A city car which is the product of the German company known as Opel, the car has named after the company founder Adam Opel. It has sold in the Vauxhall marque in the United Kingdom. The launch and sale were respectively in 2012 and 2013, as is were launched in France at the Paris Motor Show.
How it Begins
On October 10 of the year 2018, Opel and its British subsidiary, Vauxhall, declared that to optimize its model lineup and to focus on high volume divisions, the company would ax its Adam, Karl, Cascada, and Viva models after the end of their age, in almost one year.
No follower model will replace Adam, as the company stated plans to focus on SUVs, distinctly a new Opel Mokka, as part of a plan to improve company SUV purchases from 25 percent to 40 percent by the year 2021.
On 29 April of 2019, the Opel and Vauxhall website configurator for new Adam cars was followed by a list of the available plant; production came to an end on the 3rd of May of the year 2019.
Adam is available in 3 distinct trim levels and a wide selection of outer colors, as well as 3 roof colors, many inner size colors, decorations, and various headliners.
The Adam is claimed to have over 61,000 combination feasibilities for the outside and over 82,000 for the inside. Generation began at the Eisenach plant in Germany in January 2013, near Corsa.
The Adam is based on a reduced version of the Corsa D platform. The 3-door hatchback covers 3.70 meters in length and 1.72 meters in width and seats 4 people.
The Opel Adam has won the Red Dot Car Design Award in April in the year 2013. In November of the year 2012, Auto Zeitung readers in Germany suggested for Opel Adam as the number 1 city car. In the thirty eight-the Readers’ Choice Award of the trade magazine Auto Motor und Sport, the car won the mini car category with 24.2 percent of the votes, beating the Volkswagen and the Mini.
From launch, there was a selection of 3 engines: 1.2 L 70PS, and 1.4 L with 87 PS and 100 PS. All engines are accessible in ECOFLEX mode with lower CO2 emission, 1.2 ECOFLEX with 118 g/km, and 1.4s with 119 g/km. From spring 2014, Opel launched a 1.0 three-cylinder Spark Ignited Direct InjectionTurbo engine.
Opel had projected to sell between 40K and 50K units annually in Europe, and sold more than 45K in its 1st year, though sales were still in the beginning in the first 2 months of the year 2013. Year after year, sales grew every single month in the first 4 months of the year 2014
The Opel Adam is not sold in Denmark, Turkey, Chile, Norway, Sweden, as well as in the Commonwealth of Independent States countries. Singapore is one of the rare markets other than Europe which sells the Opel Adam.
Opel introduced the study of the Adam R2 for the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile. Rally Regulations R2 at the 2013 GMS in Switzerland. It is mainly based on the Adam Cup. Adam R2 is powered by a 1.6 liter normally aspirated motor making 182 hp (136 kW) and 140 lb-ft (190 N⋅m) of torque. Three cars were listed into the 2015 European Rally Championship.
